Public domain (free) music score library

The International Music Score Library Project as an attempt “to create a virtual library containing all public domain musical scores, as well as scores from composers who are willing to share their music with the world without charge.”

This looks very well stocked: they claim over 8000 works and over 14,000 scores. On a spot check, they have 195 separate Beethoven scores, including the complete piano sonatas, and concerti (they are collecting scores for all instruments, though, not just piano). They are focusing on the complete works of Bach at the moment.

This is a wiki, and contributions are welcome. They seem to be making a serious effort to avoid copyright violations.
